About The Author

Stephanie Mendez is an award-winning journalist and producer whose work has been featured in ABC News, TODAY, E! News, Los Angeles Times, SPIN and more. She is a first generation Mexican American of Purépecha descent, and grew up in Santa Ana, CA.

About The Moderator

Candace Hansen is a drummer, educator, scholar, artist, PhD candidate, and event producer from Garden Grove, currently living in Los Angeles where they work at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, write for LA Times and Spin, and drum for Alice Bag and dimber.
