Khadijah Silva - Nov. 17-24, 2024 - 2.JPEG

Crear Studio featured artist Khadijah Silva in "We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live", an exhibit that examines the narratives shaping human belief systems and realities. The exhibit reflects on how myths and phantasmagoria are embedded into societal norms, emphasizing the complexities of identity and collective memory. Its four-part installation includes The Horse Walker, a sculptural piece; a video titled The Glitch of the Spectacle; an audio piece named Jubilee; and The Black Essay. The exhibition creates a tension between complementary elements and contradictions, with each piece challenging the others and reflecting a complex struggle of questioning the systems and narratives we simultaneously uphold and deconstruct in daily life. It urges viewers to take a step back and ask themselves: "Am I caught in the cycle?"
